cold weather camping tips

Glad you're excited about getting in some winter camping!

You are correct that it could possibly be cold, but after camping in snowy West Virginia, with all the layers it was quite cozy!  It sounds crazy, but layering up really keeps you warm and makes North Carolina winters totally camp-able! What does layering up mean? These two articles explain it pretty well:

Wilderness Times

A sleep pad or mat is definitely required and I highly recommed getting a sleeping bag liner.  They're cheap on Amazon, they add another 10 degrees of insulation to your sleeping bag and in the summer they can be used instead of a sleeping bag!

Please let any one of us know if you've got any other questions... winter trips are always a blast!
