🏔 WHAT IS THE SUMMIT EXPERIENCE?
The Summit Experience is the premier on-site high adventure program of the Summit Bechtel Reserve (SBR), located in the wild and wonderful mountains of southern West Virginia. Open to Scouts and Venturers age 13 and older, it delivers a full week packed with adventure, challenge, and personal growth — all in one extraordinary destination.
No other program combines this variety of activities in a single unforgettable week. The Summit Experience isn't just high adventure — it's adventure at the next level.
High Adventure Awaits!
This trip offers an unmatched mix of adrenaline-pumping experiences in the beautiful mountains of southern West Virginia. Scouts will enjoy:
Aerial Adventures
Rock climbing, rappelling, the Leap of Faith, canopy zip line tours, and the exhilarating Alexander’s Eagle Flight
Wheeled Sports
Mountain biking on world-class trails, plus BMX and skateboarding at top-tier venues
Shooting Sports
Archery, action archery, rifle, shotgun, and hunter education/conservation training
Whitewater Rafting
A full day navigating the rapids of the legendary New River in the stunning New River Gorge

Approximate Cost: $1,430 per Scout (all fees, meals, camping, equipment, and activities included)

Eligibility: Scouts must be 13 years old by the time of the trip and registered members of Scouting America.

Skill Level: No prior experience required

Weight Limit: 50–250 lbs for aerial activities
Each attendee receives two custom BT58 Expedition t-shirts, designed by the Scouts themselves—a great keepsake from this adventure!
