Lake James State Park is a North Carolina state park in Burke and McDowell counties.
The park is located near Nebo, North Carolina. Tucked into the rolling hill country at the base of mighty Linville Gorge, Lake James is a sprawling 6,812-acre reservoir with more than 150 miles of shoreline.
We will camp at Camp Grimes on Friday night, then early Saturday morning, we will travel to Lake James where will have canoe lessons, and then paddle our way across the lake to an island only assessable by boat for camping Saturday night. Our gear will be transported by pontoon boat.
